This story we were shooting was about a strong and compelling gypsy girl. A girl who was powerful enough to cross an entire ocean and climb a mountain top with mannerisms as delicate as the morning sun. A girl who could do anything she set her mind to and loved to prove wrong those who assumed she couldn’t. She was a child of nature, complacent in the womb of the ocean, comforted under a canopy of wild wilderness and happy as a child at the gush of the wind.
In order to bring out the character, I styled the garments with a sense of duality wherein delicate pieces were paired with stronger materials and structures. Oxidised jewellery thrifted from my travel to Jaipur and statement pieces from a wonderful new jewellery label, Parvati Villa, helped complete the looks, while the beauty look was simple, featuring the usual lip and a defined green winged liner. After hours of shooting frames, perfectly curated by Rema and skipping from one location to the other in the hot sun, we arrived at our last change. However, we were still not done for the day as we went on to shoot another set of projects which you may view here and here. As the cab got me back home with sore feet and a resilient mind, it seemed like the longest day and also one of the most productive ones.
