While my mind races through menial tasks of dropping by the dentist, calling my accountant, scheduling an appointment with the movers and god-damn packing all my junk into gigantic blue plastic bags, it is tough to write about dreamy Kutch in all it’s perfect glory. Needless to say, I have scrapped one too many drafts so far. Hopefully this will be my final attempt. If not, I am willing to drown this post in the dark labyrinth which is my ‘unpublished posts’ section, never to be seen again.
I must say, it would be tragic to not show you the beauty of Vijaya Vilas Palace, due to my helpless attempts to articulate my thoughts and the current frenzied inability to write something of semblance describing the palace’s beauty. Apart from the stunning Rajput architecture, flawlessly manicured lawns and well-maintained interiors, the palace seemed to be alive with more memories than any historic structure I have previously walked into… Perhaps due to it’s youth, since it was built in 1929, or that the furniture and mementos seemed so modern and relatable, instead of being reft with imagination of what could have been, I began foreseeing people living a life of comfort in the present and the future. Only to learn towards the end of the tour that the royal family did occupy the palace from time to time. No wonder it seemed more like a home than a restored commemoration.
I, then, began imagining having a morning bowl of cornflakes at the rooftop balcony while the sun rose, or reading a book under one of those arches while peacocks danced across the lawns, or having a sleepover as a kid and having a million places to hide and go seek. Ah, the imagination can provide an escape more effective than travel at times, yet the two are so interconnected. Before I pass into another one of my mind passages in an attempt to escape my chore-filled reality, I have breakfast to make, clothes to wash and tasks to strike off my to-do list once and for all. Until next time.
wowww. this place is what dreams are made of. would be great if you could just stay there till your move is complete :p but yeah, moving is such a stressful time, i have no idea how you’re even managing to get posts up and running. don’t forget to take some time out to just relax, even though your brain is telling you to do a million other things!

Hi Faiyaz! That would be the dream!!Thank you so much for your kind words, I am temporarily settled for a while and making the most of it!
It’s a palace out of a fairy tale – It’s every little girls dream and we know that those dreams don’t ever really die – that little girl inside me would love to join you on those hide and seek games and the cornflakes!
Just so beautiful and dreamy – theres are no words, plus I’m obsessing over that gorgeous little spiral staircase! Probably leads somewhere equally magical
