Imagine walking into the happiest place ever with one of your favorite photographer human’s, a pile of exquisite clothes straight from Paris and the realisation that what you dreamed of executing four months ago has come finally come true. Cue fourth picture from this set. Resultant pure happiness, joy, exhilaration.
I may not have shared this before but I have an ever-growing list of ideas for editorials, images and stories I want to work on. Many a times, I use those pre-conceptualised creatives to match with an upcoming collaboration with a brand who fits the idea while at other times if none of the visions fit, I start thinking from scratch of the ideal setting to feature the brands and products I love. The idea of a joyous yet melancholic dark story at an amusement park was something I wished to do for so long and hadn’t worked out so often due to some reason or the other, that I thought the whole thing was probably jinxed. However, an impromptu work trip to Mumbai in early July and the ongoing conversation with the folks at Cameron Kham allowed me to put two together and finally present A Day at the Park.
Although this shoot included fun memories of getting completely drenched at sundown, hustling under a rather kind park staff’s umbrella and spending way too much money at the candy shop, *I’m looking at you Rem* it was also filled with unforgettable moments of pure bliss like dancing under a fully lit carousel, peeking through the diner’s window to the tunes of Elvis and Neil Sedaka, having an almost Parisienne moment in black and white as if the Montmartre Carousel was lit up in the background only with a missing Eiffel Tower. I couldn’t think of a better setting to style and feature the label which has a bit of Indian and bit of Parisienne. A story which spells amour in both languages.
