Fashion is often considered an act of impressing others rather than that of self expression. I am sure we all dress up better for a date than an errand-run because a special man demands to impress him way more than the friendly neighborhood grocery seller. I understand that certain occasions dictate that we dress a certain way as do certain people in our lives and perhaps career deserve that extra spray of perfume, the carefully picked out dress and the expensive blow dry at the parlor. However, do we still care about our impression when the person isn’t really worth impressing? Can fashion be personal and for the individual rather than a projection and an image? How many of us still pick up a perfume bottle and spray that little extra just for ourselves?
